ARK Invest announced Sept. 24 that it is tokenizing its $1.3 billion ARK Venture Fund (ARKVX) with Securitize (SECZ), the tokenization platform that went public in June and in which ARK has held a strategic stake since October 2025. Securitize handles onchain issuance and the investor experience; ARKVX tokenized interests are first available on Ethereum, with other networks potentially following.
The fund is an actively managed interval fund investing across private and public companies — its portfolio includes OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe and Databricks, among others. Tokenization does not put those underlying companies onchain or make their shares freely tradable: investors receive a blockchain-based representation of their interest in the fund. 'The underlying assets will still remain private, but the investment of the end users will be liquid,' Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo told CoinDesk. Securitize plans to publish a daily net asset value and enable the fund interests to trade on blockchain-based markets — which Bloomberg frames as 24/7 trading, a structural change for an interval fund whose traditional liquidity comes in quarterly windows.
Market reaction was immediate: Securitize shares jumped as much as 15% to a fresh high since their June public debut, nearly doubling in the week since the SEC's Sept. 17 five-year 'innovation exemption' opened a pathway for tokenized US stocks on onchain venues. The ARKVX announcement lands exactly seven days after that exemption.
Why it matters: the 2024 tokenization wave (BlackRock's BUIDL, Franklin Templeton's BENJI) put cash-equivalents — Treasuries and money-market products — onchain. ARKVX pushes tokenization into private markets: the least liquid, most demanded asset class of this cycle, wrapped in always-on liquidity. Citi analysts project tokenized securities could reach $5.5 trillion by 2030 as a base case. Cathie Wood called onchain availability 'a natural extension of our mission to democratize access to technologically enabled disruptive innovation.'
Securitize (NYSE: SECZ, ~$5B AUM) launched Securitize Stocks today at 13:00 UTC: 12 tokenized US mega-caps — including Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Tesla, Circle, Strategy and Palantir — each backed 1:1 by a real share, settling in USDC on Solana with Jump Trading running the proprietary AMM and clearing firm RQD* handling custody and settlement. It is the first product live under the SEC's five-year Innovation Exemption for onchain stock trading, granted September 17.
Anthropic's much-anticipated IPO prospectus — reported in detail by Reuters and the Financial Times — pursues a $2 trillion valuation while disclosing a $42 billion net loss for 2025 and plans to spend $518 billion on cloud, computing, and infrastructure in the coming year. Roughly 80 of the filing's 261 main-body pages cover risk factors, including that advanced AI could pose 'catastrophic or existential risks to humanity,' versus 48 pages describing the business. Nvidia separately disclosed that Anthropic has more than $180 billion in contracted compute commitments — 2.5GW of Nvidia infrastructure shipping through 2028.
Nvidia's board authorized an additional $150 billion in share repurchases on Monday — which the company says is the largest single authorization increase ever announced by a public company — lifting total remaining buyback capacity to $235 billion, expected to be spent through fiscal 2028. NVDA rose 2.8% to a $5.42 trillion market cap as Jensen Huang called AI 'a once-in-a-generation platform shift.'
